Design Ideas and Innovative Uses of Hufcor Products

Hufcor offers the most comprehensive selection of operable, glasswall, and accordion partitions in the industry. Our products were developed in response to our customers' various design, size, and budget requirements.

Although Hufcor offers more products and holds more patents than the rest of the industry combined, we realize that occasionally one of our many "standard" products will not meet your project's needs. Our talented and creative engineers are often called upon to customize a model or develop a totally new product to solve a unique need.

Among our custom designs are panels with louvers, mirrors, windows, chair rails, wood moldings and electrical wiring. Panels have been modified to fit around soffits or to accommodate sloped floors or stairs or to close off a countertop. Following are examples of a few of our custom designs.

Intercontinental Hotel at the Cleveland Clinic - Cleveland, Ohio

The auditorium at the Intercontinental Hotel at the Cleveland Clinic is as beautiful as it is functional. Tiered seating combined with state-of the-art audio visual equipment, allows every person to see and hear presentations. The perimeter walls are covered in perfectly matched, exquisite, inlaid wood.

The hotel asked for the room to be divided so that two functions may be held simultaneously. An operable partition was needed to divide the room along the steps. The faces were to be finished with the same wood as the perimeter walls. The stairs provided an additional challenge – the steps are not all the same size; every third step is wider. Hufcor operable panels divide the auditorium and seal against the steps. Read all about it here in the case study.

Ernest Morial Convention Center - New Orleans, Louisiana

After completing Phase II, the convention center found that the operable partitions in the exhibit area could occasionally shift due to extreme air pressure surges created when the huge aircraft doors are opened during show set-ups and take-downs. To eliminate this problem, the team of architects hired for Phase III set forth two extremely stringent requirements for the operable wall specification.

Hufcor engineers customized their Spectrum 6000 operable partition so that it not only met the specification, but far exceeded it. Standard Hufcor retractable bottom seals apply a downward force which is more than adequate for most facilities. But for the New Orleans Convention Center, the air pressure created extreme circumstances. Read all about it here in the case study.

Holy Name of Jesus Church - Indialantic, Florida

The architect wanted to separate the main section of the sanctuary of this church from an overflow area with glass panels. At first, he was faced with the fact that a floor track was required with the various systems he investigated. When he learned that Hufcor could provide an operable glass system without a floor track, he liked the idea. Read all about it here in the case study.

Seascape Resort

Seascape Resort - Aptos, California

Glasswall was the perfect choice for the hotel manager who wanted to secure this gift shop and allow hotel guests to “window shop” during off hours. The hotel previously consulted with B.T. Mancini, the Hufcor distributor, for their hotel meeting rooms’ space division needs. To meet this new challenge, B.T. Mancini designed a secure Glasswall system that allows an unobstructed view of the merchandise available within the store. Glasswall allows the entire store to become a window display. Founders Hall Patrick Henry College

Patrick Henry College's Founder's Hall - Purcellville, Virginia

Prestigious Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia, was building what would become the signature building for their new college – Founders Hall. Of concern was the main lobby. As it stood, it was a single cavernous room that could be utilized only by single groups, whether large or small, and to the exclusion of other uses of the building. Read all about it here in the case study.

Freightliner Trucks Headquarters

Freightliner Trucks Headquarters - Portland, Oregon

Hufcor Glasswall enclosed a cafeteria that looked out onto a two-story atrium overlooking the Columbia River. The architect wanted to secure the cafeteria after hours, but did not want to block off a view of the river. The challenge was the need for the panels to follow the circular design of the atrium. Hufcor's Glasswall was the solution by using curved track and a design that matched the soffits.. Read all about it here in the case study.
