Revealed and on display at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC – VILLA™ features a telescoping system and a fully automated wall, for ease of use and flexibility. The four-panel telescoping wall simply pulls forward to close in a space, providing privacy when needed. The adjoining automated solution is powered by a small motor mounted within the overhead support system and is controlled by a touchscreen. The pre-engineered support system or UNISPAN™, can be used in retrofit or new construction and can be assembled on-site.
VILLA™ is part of the ‘Making Room’ exhibit, which highlights innovative solutions for meeting the needs of housing in the 21st century. A central part of the exhibit is the open house, a sub-1,000-square foot house built with flexibility in mind. The house features movable walls from Hufcor, smart-home tech and multi-functional furniture from Resource Furniture.
In the cities, space is at a premium. Challenges arise when babies are born, kids move out or parents move in. Moving isn’t always the solution, nor is it a practical one. With VILLA™ and the open house, one can easily turn one space into many and vice versa.
