Unispan® is a pre-engineered independent support system which eliminates the need for structural steel beams and is compatible with Hufcor operable walls for quick and easy room division.  Unispan® was developed to enable facilities to install movable partitions in buildings with inadequate overhead structure, saving on engineering and materials costs of construction.   This design and construction also makes Unispan® ideal for remodels and tenant fit-outs where the proper support may not already exist.  Older buildings also benefit from Unispan® because it permits installation of movable partitions without costly reinforcing modifications to the building structure.

Electric Unispan® has the same great features of Unispan® with added motor and drive allowing the supported wall to be operated electrically with the simple push of a button.  Electric Unispan® has been pre-engineered to completely integrate the motor and drive into the Unispan® support system.  This unique and proprietary design provides for easy ordering, shipping and installation which translates into reduced cost total of materials, engineering and installation verses conventional operable walls supported by overhead beams integrated into the building structure.

Electric Unispan® has the same weight loading capabilities and options as conventional Unispan® and can fill openings up to 40’ (12.19m) wide and can support panels up to 48” wide (1219mm) and up to 100 lbs. per linear foot (148.8 kg per linear meter).  Options include choice of sound management levels, embedded or exposed headers and/or vertical posts, and panels covering the headers in finishes matching the operable walls.

The Science of Sound Part VII: Beating Flanking Paths

The first step to beating flanking paths is to look at how all of the elements work together from floor to roof-the partition, the space between the ceiling and the roof, the floor, even HVAC ductwork can help or hinder flanking paths.

The Science of Sound Part VI: Flanking Paths

Shoddy construction, customary construction practices, or poor installation of the partition can all contribute to the leaks, known as flanking paths.

Hufcor Joins ‘Making Room’ Exhibit in D.C.
